An adrenalectomy is a surgery to remove one or both of the adrenal glands. The body's two adrenal glands are located at the top of each kidney. The adrenal glands are part of the system that makes hormones, called the endocrine system. Laparoscopic adrenalectomy is a minimally invasive procedure that uses small incisions and tools to access the adrenal glands. Surgery is performed through 3 to 4 small (0.5 to 1 cm) incisions in the abdomen.
