Urethroplasty

Urethroplasty is a type of surgery to repair the urethra, the inner tube that carries urine out of the body. You may need urethroplasty because of scarring in the urethra that prevents urine from flowing freely. In urethroplasty, a surgeon finds and removes the narrowed part of the urethra and connects the two healthy parts. If urethral scarring is too long to remove, doctors may use tissue from other parts of the body to restore the urethra to its normal size.
